- Free camping or pitching a tent is forbidden in the Zermatt-Matterhorn destination. This applies in and near the villages, in or near the hamlets, as well as in a natural open Alpine area. An exception is made for the use of official camping areas.
- Occasional, non-commercial camping on private land is permitted if written permission from the owner of the land is obtained.
