Leisee

The lake of the Leisee (2,232 m) is Zermatt’s beach and a popular outing for the whole family. With children’s playground, barbecue areas, picnic spots, pavillon for pic nic, play raft – and a glorious view of the Matterhorn.

Advice to avoid swimming in Leisee Lake:
The bathing inspectorate of the Canton of Valais is currently reporting increased bacteria levels in Leisee Lake. Swimming is therefore not currently recommended in Leisee Lake. Please also keep dogs on a lead and ensure they do not drink from or swim in the lake.

360° Panorama

For children, this is a magical place to swim and play; for parents, a wonderful spot to relax. The views of the Matterhorn are gorgeous, framed by a pristine alpine landscape. As the lake is not deep, the water temperature is suitable for a dip, despite the altitude. The lakeshores are home to a wealth of alpine flora – and in July, to tadpoles and small frogs. The little stream that flows into the lake is also perfect for children to play in.
