The boutique Hotel Matthiol has undergone extensive modernisation work over a period of around eight months, including extensions and a completely new wellness area.

Since mid-April 2021, all the rooms at the boutique Hotel Matthiol have been renovated and refurnished. Sarah Schwarzenbach, CEO and founder of Maisons Matthiol, which includes the mountain restaurant Stafelalp, the Hotel Matthiol and the Matthiol Serviced Apartments, opted for natural colours and high-quality materials such as reclaimed wood to create a homely atmosphere. All rooms are now also equipped with a coffee machine. In the spa rooms, new seating areas offer a space to relax after using the individual sauna and experience showers.

In addition to the rooms, the entrance area and reception now have a new look, welcoming guests with a cosy lounge atmosphere. The highlight of the renovation is the new extension, which is home to the bar. A huge fireplace fills the room and invites guests to linger after a relaxing or sporty day.

Redesigning the spa journey

The wellness area, which is geared towards couples, has been completely rebuilt and enlarged in an additional refurbishment stage. "It was important to me that our guests enjoy a unique wellness experience. That's why our treatments are only ever available in pairs. It means we can guarantee complete relaxation without the interruption of others," explains Sarah Schwarzenbach, who worked together with KLAFS on the new concept.  The entire area is kept in dark tones to relax the eyes. Greened walls made of moss offer a completely natural experience.

The modernisation and expansion work was successfully completed in December 2021.
