At the beginning of August 2019, the recently established hotel group Bikini Island & Mountain Hotels acquired the 36-bedroom Hotel Antares in Zermatt. The hotel is located close to the Matterhorn glacier paradise valley station and will continue to be operated by the same team as it is now. After the 2019/2020 winter season, renovation work will begin on the hotel ensuring it is ready to greet the 2020/2021 ski season as "Bikini Island & Mountain Zermatt". Further building work is planned which will eventually result in the hotel offering around 80 bedrooms. The first new section is due to be opened by the 2021/2022 winter season.
