SchlossHotel Zermatt: Major investment and Switzerland’s first CBD spa

19/05/2020

While the “SchlossCottage”, due to open this July, is being refurbished and the new “SchlossHouse” is being built on the land next to the hotel, the existing wellness area in the SchlossHotel Zermatt is also being extended. The new spa concept includes the use of the cannabis ingredient cannabidiol (CBD).

This year, the SchlossHotel Zermatt will have a whole new look for its guests. Work includes the construction of the “SchlossHouse” on the land next to the hotel, to include four bedrooms and two suites. A suite can be linked to two bedrooms, providing 135m2 for up to six people. The work is scheduled to be completed in time for winter 2020.

Switzerland’s first CBD spa

The existing spa and fitness area is also being renovated and extended. The big news is the opening in winter 2020 of Switzerland's first CBD spa, in cooperation with “SwissCBD”, part of the Schibano Pharma Group AG. Swiss CBD manufactures and supplies hemp products to the pharmaceutical and cosmetics industry and as part of Schibano Pharma AG, their production of the active ingredient CBD has received GMP and API certification from swissmedic. SwissCBD worked with the SchlossHotel to design a spa concept and all of the treatments in the new “SchlossSpa”. This highlights the SchlossHotel’s innovative vision for the wellness market of the future; the cannabis ingredient cannabidiol (CBD) is extremely popular at the moment and is thought to be relaxing, anti-convulsant and anti-inflammatory, with no intoxicating effect. CBD will be used in both treatments in the new spa and in the CBD herbal sauna.

The SchlossCottage - Traditional outside, contemporary inside

Two former hay barns have been converted into the stylish SchlossCottage. The exterior is traditional, while the interior oozes chic, with a mini home cinema (incl. Netflix), Playstation, popcorn maker, a cottage wellness area with its own sauna and a balcony. Two bedrooms, a bathroom, kitchen and living room provide plenty of relaxing space for up to four people, without missing out on the advantages of staying in a hotel. Use of all the hotel’s facilities is available for free, including the CBD spa. The new SchlossCottage will be open from July 2020.
