Since the Chalet Hotel Schönegg has met a number of admission criteria, it belongs to the prestigious Relais & Châteaux association.

In Zermatt, it is the one and only hotel, which belongs to this global fellowship: The Chalet Hotel Schönegg is a new member of Relais & Châteaux. This association of exclusive hotels and top restaurants counts among its members around 550 award-winning landmark hotels and restaurants and stands for fine hospitality and the art de cuisine. The association was established in France over 60 years ago.

To be accepted, the Chalet Hotel Schönegg had to meet a number of criteria. "We see Relais & Châteaux as a seal of quality, which is why we are very pleased about our being accepted," say Anna and Sebastian Metry, the sister and brother directors of the Chalet Hotel Schönegg. The hotel is located above Zermatt overlooking the Matterhorn. With the hotel's own lift and tunnel, it is easy and convenient to quickly reach from the village centre.

Relais & Châteaux particularly praises the wine selection and the art of cuisine of the Zermatt luxury hotel. In collaboration with the Varonier winery, the Metry family in its fifth generation in Varen is making its own house wine. Guests will also be able to choose from a wide selection of other fine wines to match the dishes prepared by chef Reinhold Wrobel in the Uncorked Restaurant.

"We want to continue to make an impression with our wine selection including those from our own vines," says Sebastian Metry, and he adds: "We will also strive to keep the culinary art of our chef Reinhold Wrobel and our hospitality at the highest level."
