The Milestone is the most important award in the tourism industry, characterised once again by exciting projects and personalities from all areas of the country. Around 600 key figures from tourism, business and politics gathered in the Kursaal Bern to congratulate the winners in the “Innovation”, “Premiere”, “Future Leaders” and “Lifetime” categories. The Swiss tourism prize is awarded by the htr hotel revue and HotellerieSuisse and this year celebrates its 20th anniversary.
First prize in the “Innovation” category was won by the start-up Bonfire
Bonfire represents an extensive digitalisation campaign by the Zermatt – Matterhorn destination to ensure they remain competitive in the tourism industry. As part of this, the start-up Bonfire AG was created. Zermatt – Matterhorn can now access their own high-quality systems and platforms, facilitating the best possible guest experience and providing relevant information across all channels. The jury agreed that Bonfire is a future-oriented project with a far-sighted governance structure that brings together all the region’s service providers. Using an open data structure enables the touchpoints between guests and service providers to be processed consistently throughout the customer journey as part of a big data warehouse.
Other winners
The Arosa Bear Sanctuary won second place in the “Innovation” category, followed by the Glacier Express “Excellence Class” in third place.
The “MILESTONE Premiere” goes to PrivateDeal. Jonas Gass, Co-Director of the Hotel Nomad, wins in the “Future Leaders” category, while Hanna Rychener Kistler wins the “Lifetime” award.
The Milestone is the Swiss tourism prize, with prize money totalling 32,500 Swiss francs. It is awarded by the htr hotel revue and hotelleriesuisse and supported by the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs SECO as part of the Innotour stimulus programme. The Swiss Tourism Association STV is an industry partner of the Milestone.
