In the Zurich Club Aura on 2 December 2019, a professional jury awarded prizes to young talent in the culinary scene. At the Marmite Youngster young talent competition, which this year featured the tagline “New Suisse Cuisine – Limitless since 1959”, participants competed for prizes in three categories: Cuisine, Patisserie and Service. Their task was to offer a skilful interpretation of classic Swiss cuisine, presented in a traditional, yet surprising way.

Two Zermatt talents were among the award winners. Stefanie Senn from Chez Vrony won second place in the Service category. Positive interactions with guests are very important to her. “It’s so wonderful when guests come up to me at the end of the evening to say thank you for the service,” said Stefanie Senn to marmite-youngster.ch. Lukas Bader, from the Grand Hotel Zermatterhof, won fourth place in the Cuisine category. He doesn’t shy away from the strenuous work that being a chef involves, having grown up in a restaurateur family. “I love everything about my job”, he said to marmite-youngster.ch, “I don’t even mind the long days, quite the opposite, I love them.”

The competition aims to discover young talent, encourage their work and help them become the next generation of top chefs.
