Zermatt is a true gourmet eldorado. Eighteen restaurants with 255 Gault Millau points and three Michelin stars between them. No other place in Switzerland has such a high concentration of top chefs. Several culinary events are now coming together under the umbrella brand, ‘Taste of Zermatt’, and aim to maintain Zermatt's superior gastronomy.
Launch Party
On Friday 17 August 2018, guests at the sold-out Kitchen Party in the Mont Cervin Palace and Grand Hotel Zermatterhof experienced the best of Zermatt's passionate cuisine. Guests watched chefs at 19 stations prepare seasonal and local delicacies and were also served the best Valais wines. The Kitchen Party was the perfect occasion to launch ‘Taste of Zermatt’, said hotelier and co-founder Daniel F. Lauber in his speech. “Zermatt is a bastion of gourmet expertise. ‘Taste of Zermatt’ wants to devote itself to the best of Zermatt cuisine”, he said, outlining the aim of the new brand: "’Taste of Zermatt’ brings together the top Zermatt gastronomy, inspiring gourmets with our culinary events.”
Full flavours throughout the seasons
Several high-quality events have already been unified under the umbrella brand, including the Kitchen Party, Gondola Breakfast, Gondola Fondue and Horugüet, the perfect combination of hiking and food. “We are working behind the scenes on additional projects so that we can provide fantastic events for gourmets throughout the year,” said Lauber at the brand launch. Several partners and key players in the destination are already working hard to make ‘Taste of Zermatt’ a success. This is just one of the reasons that Lauber is convinced of the brand's potential: “From now on, when people experience Zermatt's incredible cuisine, they’ll think of ‘Taste of Zermatt!”
