The first combined Mountain Bike World Championships will happen in the Valais in September 2025. Swiss Cycling put forward eight locations in the Valais to the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) and won the bid this week. Zermatt is among the host locations.

Short Track Racing

The Matterhorn village will host the Short Track discipline. This is where the 30 best cross-country men and women in the world compete in a race lasting only 25 minutes. It's full of incredible overtaking manoeuvres and high speeds and is a real feast for spectators. The circular route in Zermatt will be around 1.5 km long and will be in or near the village.

Eight locations in the Valais

There are seven other locations in addition to Zermatt. The cross-country world championships will take place in Crans-Montana and downhill racing in the Dents du Midi region. The other host locations are Grächen (e-bike), Leukerbad (enduro), Verbier / Val d’Anniviers (marathon) and Monthey (pump track).
