Season extension in Zermatt

19/08/2020

Zermatt prolonge la saison d’automne pour tenir compte des vacances scolaires suisses: les remontées mécaniques ainsi que de nombreux hébergements et restaurants resteront donc ouverts au moins jusqu’au 18 octobre 2020.

Considering the anticipated drop in business over the summer holidays, it was a really successful period for Zermatt. Much of the accommodation had high occupancy levels and restaurants, shops and cable cars benefited from Swiss visitors keen to travel. “This has helped us look forward with confidence to the autumn holidays,” says Daniel Luggen, Director of Tourism for Zermatt – Matterhorn.

And because the destination wants to continue offering guests a wide range of facilities into autumn, they have decided to extend the autumn season by a week, to at least 18 October 2020. This will align with school holidays in most Swiss cantons. Cable cars and most accommodation and restaurants will remain open until then. “We now have an opportunity to convert new Swiss visitors into loyal, repeat customers. We’re going to seize this opportunity, with our fantastic gastronomy, hospitality, infrastructure and a huge range of outdoor activities,” says Luggen.
