Zermatt Launches a Family Promotion

31/10/2017

A family promotion, which offers many advantages for families and children, begins in the Zermatt – Matterhorn destination on 1 November 2017. At the same time, the Wolli Card will be introduced.

The destination Zermatt – Matterhorn has been the proud holder of a "Family Destination" Seal of Approval since 2013. The tourist resort would like to continue with its family friendly strategy and therefore is launching a family promotion.

Visitor’s Tax Relief

Children up to age nine no longer pay visitor’s tax now. Furthermore, if parents buy a multi-day ski ticket, children up to age nine receive a Wolli Card, which is valid for an entire fiscal year (until the end of October). With the Wolli Card, children enjoy unlimited travel on the mountain lifts, free accommodations in various hotels and benefit from other special offers. These include free biking courses, sports equipment rentals, children’s menus, train trips and museum admissions.

New Family Activities

In addition to the Wolli Card, the destination is expanding the activity offerings for children and youngsters as part of the family promotion. For example, there is a treasure hunt continuing throughout the year and mountain cart rides beginning in the summer of 2018.

Background About the Promotion

"Children are our VIPs," said Daniel Luggen, the director of tourism for the Zermatt – Matterhorn destination, "because children are our guests for the future." For this reason, this tourist resort decided to undertake this family promotion. The initiative intentionally includes the entire destination. "Strong and focussed collaboration throughout the destination is our strategy in order to stay true to the desires of our guests while remaining a successful tourist destination," continued Luggen.

Destination Zermatt – Matterhorn

The Zermatt – Matterhorn destination encompasses the communities of Zermatt, Täsch and Randa and is surrounded by 38 four thousand-metre peaks including the Matterhorn, the most photographed mountain in the world. The tourist resort stands out for its experience of nature, hospitality and high-quality cuisine with 255 GaultMillau points and 3 Michelin Stars. In summer, the destination offers 400 km of hiking trails; in winter, 360 km of ski pistes.
